Early Childhood Education Career Degree – 0073

Want a career working with children?

If you have a passion for helping young children learn, grow, and thrive, a career in Early Childhood Education (ECE) could be the perfect fit for you. The SWIC ECE Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree provides the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to succeed in a variety of Early Childhood environments.

Through this program, you’ll build a strong foundation in child development theories, developmentally appropriate practices, inclusive teaching strategies for children with special needs, and effective methods for building positive relationships with families. The AAS degree also offers a pathway for seamless transfer to a four-year ECE program in Illinois for those who wish to continue their education toward a bachelor’s degree.

This program is designed to prepare students for immediate employment in early childhood settings while also supporting those who wish to pursue further education. For students planning to transfer, please also see the Early Childhood Education transfer option under the ECE Associate in Arts program area.

For personalized guidance, contact the program coordinator or a SWIC academic advisor.

Note: For information on applying for a Paraprofessional Approval Letter, please visit the Illinois State Board of Education Educator Licensure website.
